Cash Box finally called it day for their printed magazine in 1996 – Billboard won the war! Cash Box would resurface in 2006 as a strictly on-line resource. This final 1996 issue contained very few advertisements for new releases – The word had probably spread that Cash Box was wrapping things up.

Cash Box Magazine started off in 1942 as a mere ‘bulletin’ – a price and marketing report for coin machines – A mere 13 pages in length – there were no advertisements nor illustrations – nor music listings or features. Things would change but change would not come quickly.
